Cornersmith Pickling Demo and Talk

Take one community-minded couple, a suburb full of gardens bursting with fruit and vegetables, tack on a trading system, add classes in pickling and preserving and you get Cornersmith. Cornersmith is a café that collects the excess seasonal produce from their neighbours to create truly delicious seasonal food and inspired jams, pickles and preserves. Lucky Marrickville!

Alex Elliott-Howery and James Grant, the brains behind this award-winning café were overwhelmed by the response to their informal trading system when they opened three years ago. Day after day, people come with baskets of herbs, tubs of mulberries and mountains of fruit in exchange for free coffees or jars of jams and pickles. Their classes in cheese making, pickling and preserving are attracting people from all over NSW. The philosophy from this beloved café is now captured in their first cookbook Cornersmith.

Join us for a talk and pickling demo with Cornersmith’s Alex Elliott-Howery here in store!
